The hall will undergo a major transformation to secure its future after Chorley Council, which owns the Grade I listed building, announced an investment of £1.7million to carry out urgent repairs to safeguard the historic building for future generations.
The investment will also see major improvements to the visitor experience, as well as the creation of a museum shop, which will help to make the site more sustainable, and bringing Ackhurst Lodge back into use.
The council submitted two bids to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), which were knocked back.
The bids were supported by huge amounts of feedback from residents and visitors and all the information is being used to direct the improvements planned for the site.
